Since her election in October 2016, Tracy has used her platform in Parliament to represent the people of Batley and Spen on many issues affecting the community.
Tracy’s work is underpinned by her Labour values, her extensive research, listening to constituents, meetings with local and national stakeholders, visits to community groups and much more.
Tracy believes that everyone should be supported to access opportunities, and to live a secure and happy life. She opposes discrimination and hatred in all its forms.
There are a number of national and community campaigns which Tracy currently supports. However, her key priorities for Batley and Spen comprise her core campaigns as set out below.
Health – Tracy aims to support local Hospitals to retain and improve their services, and to improve Public Health in Batley and Spen.
Economy – Tracy encourages investments, and therefore job creation in the Batley and Spen area. She is monitoring the impact of Brexit upon local business, fighting for the area not to be excluded from the Northern Powerhouse, and is working to monitor and support policies to improve living standards.
Transport– Tracy is working to improve transport links in the area, including lobbying for the electrification of the rail link between Batley and Leeds.
Young People – Tracy recognises the importance of supporting young people. That’s why she’s standing up for local schools, listening to the voices of children and young people, and encouraging them to realise their potential and fulfil their ambitions.
Culture– Tracy celebrates the coming together of different cultures in the Batley and Spen community. Moreover, as a former actor and writer, Tracy understands that cultural opportunities can transform lives and communities. She plans to ensure that there are opportunities for people in Batley and Spen to participate in and have access to artistic and cultural opportunities.
